No Wasted Words Writing Contest

Zero Waste and Yukon Conservation Society are partnering up to host the No Wasted Words Writing Contest! Submit a short work of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry with a zero waste or conservation theme and get the chance to share your work at our Earth Day event and win a prize!

Submission Deadline: March 24th, 2024

Age Categories: Youth (18 and under) & Adult (19 and up)

Accepted Themes: Zero Waste or nature conservation

Word Limit: 1,000 words
Submissions over the word limit will not be considered.

Format: typed or legible printing (no cursive)

Please include in Submission: Name, Age, Phone Number, Email Address, Word Count, Community of Residence.

Electronic Submission to: zerowaste@ravenrecentre.org. (Please put Earth Month Writing Contest in the subject line)

Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for each age category!

A selection of submissions will get the opportunity to share their work at our Earth Month event at Well-Read Books, 6:30pm on April 13th! Read your work in front of live audience and have it recorded for CJUC! A selection of submissions will also be published in Yukon Conservation Society’s Tread Lightly magazine.
